Abstract

The research object mainly to evaluate the financial performance of the Iraqi private Islamic and commercial banks and compare them. Using the six indicators of the CAMELS model, and to achieve this goal the research was applied to private Islamic banks (represented by Elaf Bank) and private commercial banks (represented by Bank of Baghdad) for the period from (2013- 2018) and several financial and statistical methods were used, such as the arithmetic mean and the standard deviation, to test the research hypotheses, and the research reached a set of conclusions, the most important of which are: The superiority of Elaf Islamic Bank over Baghdad Commercial Bank of Iraq in all the six indicators of the CAMELS banking evaluation model represented by (capital, Assets, management, earnings, liquidity, and sensitivity to market risks) both separately, and for all indicators combined.
